Updates

Been awhile since I've updated but really not much to talk about over the last few days. After finishing the garden I've been sort of forcing myself not to start any new projects so I can concentrate on my school work. now I have some how been able to weasel my Second Life into my school work which I think is going to be pretty fun. I'll explain this in more detail once I've got more to show.

Was shocking to hear about the earthquake in Japan this morning and the aftermath that is still causing much destruction. Good that Japan are well prepared for this kind of thing and is always inspiring to see how calm and quick responsive they are. Makes me embarrassed over the tiny amount of snow we had over Christmas and how our whole freaking country came to a stand still! Thoughts go out to those affect by the disaster and hoping for a safe return to a few friends who are currently out there.

I finally got another product onto *Dead Chuffed*. Back on Manny I tried my hand at static poses for photography and actually made a set I got prepared for selling. It never happened but I moved them onto Derren and now are finally up for sale!

I need to start adding some not so girly products. But I think women are more likely to scroll through MP and look for deals unlike most men. I say "most" men because I'm a sucker for searching for deals on MP and I know Tel is prone to it too.

Cass asked me to take a picture of me and her for a profile. I don't class myself a photographer because I don't have the creative talent for lighting and I have basic photoshop skills. But it's still a fun thing to work with. I'd love to get some more edited pictures of all my friends and more of me and Tel. 

However time inworld has been pretty limited for both of us. Always lots happening in RL and we grab any chances we can get. The house and sim is pretty much finished besides from a little more furniture upstairs. I was able to make a couple more things including these plants on the top floor landing.

We've set a date for the wedding. Keep your diaries open for Thursday 26th of May. Not sure what time but that will be decided closer the time and invites will be sent out. The reason for such a far away dates is because I don't want the stress of my university work ruining the day. Plus both Tel and I will be quite busy at the beginning of May for different reasons or events. We both want a good amount of time to plan and arrange everything to make sure it's a wonderful day. I've never been married in SL or RL so this is all a first for me. Besides from the lack of time together I have no worries for Tel and I. I'm not use to being this comfortable in a relationship lol. Feels good :)

A few ramberlings...in my minds.

Oh little hunt item..be still. you're mine now!

First off a couple of hunt stuff. I've kinda gave up looking for ALL the items now and am just sticking to hopping to each store and if I like the look of the stuff I'll spare the effort. Seems far enough. I'm up to about 50 or odd now with missing about 6 or 7 I think. I was excited to see Lazybum in the hunt as I do like their shorts.

So like I said before, swim shorts and tank from [Lazybum] (# 33). boots from Deco (# 30) and pipe from sur+ (# 35). The picture below is pretty much the same stuff but with a tank and pants (including bulge) from Kobalt (# 32) 

This is only what I've take pictures off so far and hopefully will have a chance to do some more hunting. RL is starting to get busy with uni work again and I mostly want to spend my SL time with Tel.

SL relationships was another thing I wanted to talk about. Valentines drawing near and I'm currently wanting to watch 'When Strangers Click' (and oh dear I've only just gotten the double meaning to that title *facepalms*), which is a new documentary about romance over the internet that will be airing on HBO on valentines day. Of course I'm not an American citizen so will have to find another way of watching. 5 people and/or couples are interviewed about their stories and of course there is one about SL. Though from the interview the director and the guy in the film did with Paisley Beebe (Which you can watch Heeerree) I wasn't fully sure if it was a SL/RL relationship this guy and his lady had or just SL. If so I'm interested to see how it is portrayed and how it's received. I've had my share of SL relationships in the past, some turning more real then they really should have while some with people who already had partners in their RL. Currently dating Tel is probably the best it has got and I'm not saying that because we're "oh so wonderfully in love" lol. Some have been selfish with their time and affection, some have been too demanding for my time and erm.. stamina while some were very rarely online. Tel and I seem to have effortlessly worked out a system that works for both of us, probably from a deeper understanding of each other and learning from past relationships. Which has really helped us feel a very rich love for each other inworld and a deep friendship in RL. I can't thank him enough for the love and understanding he's given me over recent RL happenings which are not really for this blog. What does always amaze me is that his RL bf knows and even reads THIS blog (Hi boyfriend-in-law *waves*). As far as I've known only RL couples who both venture in SL can have that kinda understanding. It's not the easiest of things to explain to people in the real world. But he has ventured into SL way before he started his RL relationship with Tel so has an understanding for how it works. Though I've only talked to him through Tel I have a great lot of respect and admiration for him and thank him immensely for making Tel very happy in the real world. :)

My RL boyfriend, however, DOESN'T know, much like a lot of real life partners don't. I have told a couple of close real life friends and while some accept it as fantasy and roleplay (which it isn't really but makes it easier to get an idea of it) some have labelled it pretty much as cheating. I've just never thought of it that way. Those who start using skype, web camming for eachother and meeting in real life for a date and even more.... Yes! I count that as cheating. My bf doesn't LIKE SL let alone want to understand it. He has a complete ignorance about the whole internet thinking it's for sad, poor losers who want attention. Though he seems pretty happy to socialize on his poker and football forum sites. *sighs* So I don't tell him about Tel. Not through lying or hiding it just makes for an easier, happier life for all of us. How do you explain the complex relationship of SL to a guy who doesn't even understand and even refuses to accept the appeal of Facebook?

But back to the documentary. It seem interesting. Love over the internet has always heavily interested me since I started researching about internet alter egos back in 2008. And from a director who original had no idea about this to begin with it'll be interesting to see how it goes. Information about it can be found HERE and be sure to watch the 4th clip because that's the SL one with a lil bit of animation fail. lol!

As I said before Valentines day is coming up and out of all the holidays THIS is the one I hate. I can only see this holiday working for new young lovers who have never had a Valentines before and, of course, businesses. Could it be because I've never had a good one? Yes! Most likely. But I hate the way it pushes loneliness on the single and pressure on the couples who are quite happy to show their love in their own way whenever they want! Plus all the hearts and tacky cards and present *gags a lil*. Thanks but no thanks! 

I've been currently going for a more adult/ smart casual look as of recent. I'm sort of on that weird cusp that I'm getting too tall and buff to be considered a usual SL twink but my skin if very young and I'm still insanely smaller then most male avies. I invited a friend to Spankies about a week back while I was DJing and he commented how I was the only one there that "just" looked 18. I've always considered myself as about 20. But I'm very much a babydoll as Tel calls me and though only being 5'8" in RL I was that from an early age making me taller then the rest of the kids at school. Plus being the tallest in my flat I kinda like the idea of being smallish and babydoll looking. I felt very small (pixelly not mentally) at one club we went to yesterday. I'm 7'0" in SL for christ sake! Though that means very little in SL terms as Derren is towered over by 8'2" Manny. Though Manny is tall compared to most avies. Oh I'll never get it right hehehe!

Oh well. I like my shape and being slightly different from the tiny twinkies and the tan beefcakes. I found a picture on /cm/ while lurking on 4Chan that, in my mind, reminds me of Derren. I also wish I had the outfit. Maybe I could make it sometimes...maybe..most likely not. lol

And speaking of feeling small...

Glad I'm not into popular fashion.

I travelled back to my home town yesterday to get an emergency dentist appointment. I had been suffering from my wisdom tooth for awhile and recently it was giving me such extreme headaches that I could barely focus. I could of got an appointment in Bristol but I have only ever been to one dentist in my life and wasn't quite prepared to have someone else's fingers in my mouth :O Turns out I have a gum infection which is starting to go down nicely with a weeks supply of antibiotics.

Though I haven't made anything else for Dead Chuffed yet I've been looking at some more tribal tattoos, Egyptian make-up and a couple of other things. Need to learn how to make tiny prims. I has a plan lol. Watch this space.

I checked the 49L Sale for Dudes yesterday...not a great amount of stuff I feel is a good deal for 49L. Not that some of the stuff wasn't high quality it was just a bit dull and this whole hipster fashion that has become popular in SL isn't my thing. I like the hair that's come out of hipster fashion but the clothes, those big glasses and the gawd awful ugly avies that look like anorexic tramps makes the big hulked up, baby oiled layered, uber tanned muscle twats seem attractive. :/ Ooh this is turning into a kinda rant. Lets keep going :D Know what also weirds me out. This.

I know people are trying to go for a "natural" look to their avies but I really don't want my avie walking around looking like bugs bunny's lost cousin. When I was choosing skins for Jenneh you could have an option to pick skins with opens mouths. WHY?! Is it just me or does it look retarded? Some of them do look kinda nice and would be good for photography and models for that more realistic look but some of them just look down right goofy. Glad I just stick to what I like and not the fashion of SL. Lets look at some other things that have made me gone "ew"

This...I just don't get. I saw this on the MADDESIGNS blog but the skin is from Bad@zz. Yeah, we like a bit of muscle and it's an impressive amount of detail but to me it just looks ugly. And daaaammmn those are some moobs!

Yeah I don't think there's much I have to say about this. I saw it on the front page of marketplace and laughed for a good 5 minutes. Just....WHAT!?! I can see this being a good trolling avie lol!

Ok! Lets talk about things I DO like in SL. Onesies!

Yeah! Onesies are cool! And I'm sure Intrigue inc have been making a bomb on the amazing selection they have. They're just too damn cute and have become pretty popular.

Keeping with the dragon theme, you know when you see something and you just have to have it..even though most won't know where it's from or why. I HAD to get a Night Fury furry avie when I saw it.

For those who don't know "Night Fury" is the breed name given to the main dragon in "How to Train your Dragon." I love this film and the detail and work gone into this avie is just amazing. Worth every linden though I don't know when I would wear it. Definitely not in front of big mother fucking dragon avies that call me "Hatchling". Catherine introduces me to the strangest of people. :/

Tel's making us a whorehouse so we can start pimping some pixel flesh. I think the ho's we've got so far are some real beauts! They'll come from miles around! :D

I trying my hardest not to be a compulsive buyer at the moment. Every penny counts at the moment. Sales are happening at Dead Chuffed but really not enough to be comfortable or to even think about opening a store in world which is what I really want to do.Things are going slowly, steadily but successfully in my SL at the moment and I really wouldn't have it any other way :)

Enjoying the new Island and trying something new...

I'm really enjoying my new home and have been spending a lot of time on the new homestead. My mind is still set on making things to sell on SL and now with the new home and new family I want to keep for as long as possible I want to be making some money to help support. So while struggling with university work I had a think about what I liked in SL. The one thing that has always interested me since the new tattoo layer came along with viewer 2, making it possible to have face tattoos that aren't a dodgy prim that sometimes disappears into your face. I was so excited to get free guyliner from A:S:S then having to fork out L$1000 for another skin from Den-Duo. Don't get me wrong, I love Den Duo skins but I wasn't prepared to pay up that much for something I wouldn't wear that often. Now people can have awesome make up and designs without having to change their skins. This got me thinking on a little predicament I had when choosing my skin when I first created Derren. Facial hair. At the beginning I wanted facial hair but no skins I tried suited my shape. Then when I finally decided on a Den-Dou skin none of the facial hair on the skin I chose worked. They just looked odd. I do have a prim soul patch I wear from time to time but it's not insanly detailed.

So I decided to have a go at making facial hair as tattoo layer. It took me a couple of attempts to work out how big it should be on the template to work but for a first attempt it wasn't too bad.

If I can get the detail right I think it could sell well seeing as there isn't anything like this out there yet. After testing it on Garrett's Belleza skin it looked okish but needed a lot of work. Top skin brands like Belleza, Abyss, Redgraves etc are going to be most popular so will have to fit with them to look good. Plus also going to have some sort of generic male face shape so things like soul patchs and goatees fit properly. The plan is to work on goatees, sideburns, stubble etc. I'm hoping my skills in photoshop are enough.

Bed time for me now. Leave off like a usually do with a couple of vids. Firsts a funny and seems to be exactly how I play "I Spy".

Second dedicated to the lover cos I haven't for awhile and I love him so much for making such a wonderful home for us..and generally being awesome.

All I wanted was a music box!

While trying to sooth my hangover I decided to just hop to random stores and window shop. While I was searching round Sadistic Hacker (I like their hair but none of it suits me) I heard this mysterious and enchanting little song being played. I searched the whole store till I found this cute little music box sitting on a table. "Aww that's cute." I thought to myself "I wonder if I could buy one?". So I take a look into the creators profile but of course....she doesn't SELL any of her items. Bah! Must of been an old item, a gift or a commission for the store. I continue looking at her profile and TP to her shopping sim in case I might find anywhere that would sell the lil music box.


I ended up on the meow shopping sim http://slurl.com/secondlife/Meow/66/152/32. Just as I was about to explore Tel came on and he's a pretty good distraction. We had a little explore around but neither of us were really in the mood for it. So went backs to his to cuddle until he had to go to work and I had to catch a train back to Bristol.


I came back online a few hours later. I was insanely tired but decided to wait it out a few hours and then just get a good nights sleep. I went back to meow just to explore the shops as there were a lot of nice stores. The thoughts of finding the music box were long gone.  Until...*gasp* I FOUND IT. I had explored the whole of the sim and prepared myself to head to bed before I saw it being offered as a gift with something else. I squeed and clicked the prize.

Five tokens?! What the hell! I look around a lil for explanation to this and find out their is token hunt for the prize. You go around the stores, buy an item (all priced L$75) that has a coloured coin next to it, get the coin and load it onto a hud. Once you have all 5 coins you can have the prize. Fuck that! I'm not wasting about £400 just to get loads of crap I don't want. I was about to log off...when Garrett IM'd me.

FUUuuuuuuuuuu! Caught in another bloody match game. I ignored the group im earlier because I just wanted to have a quiet evening to myself and get an early night. Oh well...ONE match shouldn't harm. Urg! I ended up playing two games which took about 2 hours! Too many in jokes and people going afk randomly for my liking. 

Afterwards I tp'd back to meow and decided sod it! I was past tired now and was going a bit loopy so decided I would collect all the coins! I would buy shit! Hey..I would of probably spent L$400 on that music box anyway. Lucky for me not all the items on sale where girls things and grabbed myself some new static poses, some trousers and other shit which I'll show you in a minute. All my coins where collects and I grabbed the lion dress which, most importantly, came with the music box. I took it home and unpacked it. It took me a whole day...but I finally got my cute little music box. 

I'm not sure on the sad little lion but it plays 6 little music box songs which I *think* are anime or jpop songs. I play it every time in my skybox now. But what other crap did I pick up! Well!

The lion outfit was the main prize for coin hunt. It's kinda cute and will probably come in handy to weird someone out with. The glasses were one of the items I had to buy to get a coin.

Unpacking more stuff.

Lol! Had to pick this costume up for a coin. The t-shirt was L$25 and the cookie was a different hunt freebie. All from the same store that I've forgotten the name of.

[Avoid] have their christmas items and group gifts this year. Got me a lil hat and a sleeping basket.

Gypsy Tart. Nahm Nahm Nahm

I'm back home for a couple of days. I've just had my flu shot and I've got a work Christmas party tomorrow. I work there when I'm back in my home town for holidays and also the RL bf works there too. My mum went to Kent for a funeral yesterday and brought me back a gypsy tart. Now before you get the wrong idea I'm talking about baked goods.

It's made of brown sugar and evaporated milk. It's so damn tasty but can only be found in Kent :( I've hid it in my room away from my Dad. He complained about how sweet and teeth rotting it is but as soon as he knows there's some in the house he'll want some! I want to take it back to Bristol and share the goodness that is Gyspy Tart. Nom nom nom nom nom!

Sey and I have decided to become SL brothers which I'm a little sketchy about considering what happened last time I had an SL brother. The petty threats...the unbelieveable lies...and the way only about TWO MONTHS LATER he ims me like NOTHING has happened. Like we can just go back to being friends. No way. NO WAY! I never let anyone speak to me or treat me the way he did. But Sey is a good kid and we have a lot of things in common. It could work. We bought matching doll skins and I took some photos of us. The skin suits him but not so much me so I'll only wear it from time to time when we are doing the twin thing lol.

A little bored this afternoon I decided to take advantage of a quiet moment and log all my avies on for a Christmas picture! I had been putting together a bad lil santa's helper outfit to go with Tel's bad santa outfit. None of the guys outfits I have found are very good or very sexy so made my own.

Then it was time to get the whole crew on and see if I could keep them all online. I also got the kittehs involved which was a fucking task and a half. Seb was ok cos he just sat on my shoulder it was Murdoc who was a little shit. I had to get Manny to hold him in build mode while I took the picture. He kept on running so I Manny kept dropping him! Urg! It took me a good half an hour JUST to get this pic!

Uh, I miss Tel. I hope he's able to make it on tonight or I'm able to stay on long enough. If not it probably won't be till Sunday, if not Saturday, till I can see him. I'll dry hump Manny until then *hump hump hump*

Girly Boots

This is the only night this week I can wait up for Tel so decided to take a chance and see if he'll log on. I'd been on the look out for a new pair of boots for the more wintery sims. I'm currently freezing my bollocks off in RL so I could atleast keep my avie warm. But it seemed all the boots out there were too blocky or bulky for my avie to pull off, too expensive or just weren't to my taste. I was on the look out for Christmas presents when this full oufit popped up.

Though it's a girl's outfit I really liked the boots. Plus with a lot of extras you get with it, it was worth buying just to see what would work on a male avie. Well the boots fitted really well but not completely sure if they make my feet look too small. The chapka looks really nice and fitted well over some KMADD hair I had. The shorts didn't look too bad and come with a cute little sligshot. The googles fitted great but I decided to move them down to around my neck. The only thing that looked wrong was the jumper and jacket. The jumper made me look like I have saggy pecks and the jacket just didn't fit.  But for a nice pair of boots, hat, frosty breath, goggles and some gloves L$290 isn't something to sniff at. Very little adjusting and it's ready to go.

The icy breath is a nice touch too. I can see what I actually feel. Fucking freezing! Onwards with the Christmas shopping.

More hunts and shizz

I took away with me quite a few little goodies yesterday from different hunts. I started exploring the Zombie Popcorn hunt but soon got a lil bored as it's mostly for girls and there's only SO many frocks I can have in my inventory. The other hunt I wondered around was the Royal Holiday at Home hunt. Seeing as I have more prims now I need something to fill them up with. Plus it also had an awesome gift from {what next} which I really wanted. To put where...I don't know. The difference with this hunt from any other hunt I had been on was you still had to pay for your gifts. All gifts were L$45 but are originally worth L$500 or over. Seems fair enough to me. If you see something nice I'm willing to pay L$45 for it.

This was the gift from {what next}. Love how many sitting animations are in the chairs. What I like about this hunt is they give you a list of all the places with landmarks and a preview of what the gift. Not much of a hunt but still, I'm not complaining. I got a juicy romance set from Fluid Furniture but because I already have a cuddle rug and won't need to replace my fireplace until after Christmas I just have my tray of yummies and champagne bucket out. Looks sexy next to my fireplace.

The only other thing I picked up from this hunt was a nice little Christmas scene with poses and props from 

MudHoney.

There's still plenty more on the hunt but some of it is a lil girly for my man pad so I decided to keep my L$45 from those.

Franzi gave me a notecard with landmarks and hints for The Slave council Gorean Christmas Hunt. I haven't had a chance to explore this one yet but did pick myself up a kilt and loincloth from Nyundo. Will have to explore it more another time. 

Went to Spankies to listen to Seo's set. Was joined by Sey and we had a good little chat about things. Also decided I should make up with Denny. I get the feeling he's missed talking to me in some sorta way. Probably because I don't sugar coat things. Later I joined Cat at a place she likes to hang out called Statuesque. Basically a chance to be a living statue. I can't see the appeal myself but she likes to go semi afk there while she's busy with school work. You choose a plinth and you stand there for however long you want. If you have RLV on it chooses it for you..I think. I'm standing on one right now as I write this and I'm not completely sure I like the way this thing is talking to me.

Then later I got to see Tel who must of been very tired after his first few days back at work. We headed over to CI, I noted down some awesome tunes they played and we had a good laugh. The week of work had it's toll on Tel and he fell asleep in RL. Lol. I panicked like the spazz I am but had to head to bed. Glad to know he's ok. :)

That's about it. Not much has happened today besides from a brief little fly with PJ....or more like ON PJ. Hehe I love those massive dragon avies.
